The next edition of the Polifonic will take place from 17-21 september 2008 and will be dedicated to the Arezzo composer Paolo Antonio del Bivi called “Paolo Aretino” in the V centinary of his birth. For the first time the historic Aretine competition will take place in the month of September. More novelties are on their way.
The next edition of the Polifonic will take place from September 17-21 2008 and will be dedicated to the composer of Arezzo Paolo Antonio del Bivi called Paolo Aretino.
In the cicle of the Polifonic dedicated to Paolo Aretino, an International Convention on his work, in particular reference to his contribution to sacred drama expressions through his polifonic realizations on the texts of the Evangelic Passions will be made. Some of his compositions will be inserted as obligatory pieces so that the whole world may get to know the greatest polifonist of Arezzo of the 500’s.
The Guidoniani Study center is bringing an edition of Omnia works of Paolo Antonio del Bivi called Paolo Aretino. Even though considered by the critics as the most considerable musician, composer, born and bred in Arezzo.Paolo Aretino until today has not enjoyed a modern International Edition of his opera: polifonic composer, he left pieces of wide range both profade (madrigal) and sacred; these last ones hold an important position in the motet collection., of hyms and antiphon for the Saints week and Christmas. Also particularly significant is his production tied to liturgic drama which consists of polifonicintonation in all the Evangelic Passions. One of these the Passion According to John, survived handwritten, in a suggestive representation given in the church in Pieve Arezzo and repeated with great sucess for the Scala Theatre of Milano and for Radio Svizzera International in Lugano (which also made a video and inserted it in the international tv circuit). The editing project will conclude in 2008, year of the fifth centenary of the birth of the Aretine musician. The edition will observe the international criterias of the critical edition and will adopt the transposition system in modern keys, with values of modern times in the score. Using critical interventions in favor of the excecutive procedure contemporary to the published works.
